Zitiert durch (Auswahl) 2x2projects IMPULSE is the section for solo projects at the Pulse Miami 2009 art fair. This year 2x2projects will present the entire Barefoot series by Sabine Dehnel.Art critic Constanze Musterer wrote: "The Barefoot series addresses the difficult phase of transition from childhood into becoming an adult. Long skinny legs, growing slowly into shape, yet their posture in a way still seem to lack coordination. Skirts having an imperfect fit, in spite of the fact that they are worn to be sexy. The self restraint feeling, showing from the entire body language, which doesn't fit the past childhood scheme anymore. Sabine Dehnel in her Barefoot series purposely directs the focus to the legs and a part of the skirt against the wall of an empty space, symbolizing the seemingly hopeless situation that comes with this phase of life. In a very subtle way, the position of the legs as captured by Sabine Dehnel depicts the emotional scope of the subject, being no more a child and not yet a woman. The actual actors in these photographs, however, are the partly irreal skirts that break and ironize the situation and at the same time symbolize the projection and transition of the wearers. The sharp shadows of the skirt seams are clearly contoured images telling a tale about make belief and existence. The skirts not only enable the wearers a re-identification, but also the onlooker, in an exalted way, to be all child and a future grand lady of a metropolis. The original status of 'in between' can be lived in all its facettes by the play of roles." 2x2projects will be located at booth i-201.
